Research & Innovation
SPEDP promotes innovation and provides for standardization and harmonization of broader management capabilities, including the support to developing the capacities of thematic units. The priority of the Research and Innovation Unit is conducting research on stakeholders especially the target population to identify their needs, constraints and challenges. This also helps to measure the impact of projects/programmes. Research is a potent vehicle for SPEDP to increase its funding base. The unit may confine its research for the benefit of innovating SPEDP developmental and service activities and is also a source to other partners and stakeholders including the government institutions for carrying out research and studies. The Department has a pool of researchers/consultants with demonstrable experiences and reputations in various thematic areas. These are not all employees but a reserve human resource that can be contracted for specific research and study purposes when needs arise.

The Department is comprised of the following units;
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning: Monitoring and Evaluation has a key role to play in the implementation of the development plans, policies, programmes and projects. It tracks the progress of programmes and assess outcomes. It enhances realistic and authentic accountability, learning and documentation of policies through research reports and success stories recorded. It sets an investment in knowledge that can translate into new technologies and serve as a basis for efficient utilization of resources. SPEDP is committed to quality and result oriented performance along with accountability towards people and donors. The Unit is responsible to coordinate, mainstream and standardize all MEAL initiatives across SPEDP.
