PROJECT NAME: STRENGTHENING THE EDUCATION SYSTEM TO BECOME MORE RESPONSIVE AND RESILIENTTO THE IMPACTS OF CRISIS THROUGH IMPROVED DATA FOR DECISION MAKING, STRENGTHENED COORDINATION AND MEANINGFUL ENGAGEMENT OF LOCAL ACTORS
Background
SPEDP with support from UNESCO supported the institutionalization and strengthening of Education in Emergencies (EiE) data systems within the broader national Education Management Information System (EMIS) framework while enhancing the responsiveness and resilience of the education sector in crisis-affected contexts. The intervention seeks to improve the capacity of education stakeholders at National, State, County, Payam, and school levels to collect, manage, analyze, and utilize quality education data for evidence-based planning and decision-making. In addition, the project aims to strengthen crisis-informed educational planning processes to ensure that education authorities are better prepared to respond to emergencies, minimize disruptions to learning, and support continuity of education services during periods of crisis.
The intervention also aims to address existing gaps in education data management systems, including delayed reporting, weak validation mechanisms, limited ICT and analytical skills, and insufficient integration of Education in Emergencies indicators into routine education data systems. Through targeted capacity building, technical support, and operational coordination, the project will contribute to the establishment of more reliable, timely, and responsive education information systems capable of supporting both humanitarian response and long-term education sector planning. The project further seeks to strengthen coordination among education stakeholders and promote meaningful engagement of local actors in education planning, implementation, and monitoring processes within the national EMIS framework.
